Supporting Report Writing
In the past two years, Learning Through Football has provided teachers & learners the opportunity to engage in Literacy competitions.
Following the success of Creative/Imaginative Writing competitions; 'The Day I Played for Scotland' and 'We're Off to Germany!', this year we are supporting Report Writing using the stimulus of the Women's Scottish Cup Final on Sunday 25th May 2025.
Competition details to follow.

Being a Match Report Writer & Journalist
To support learners in their Report Writing, one of the Scottish FA's Match Reporters (Mitch Feggans), shares the importance of preparation, recording information during the match & meeting a deadline of producing a match report.
Mitch's top tips:
- Be prepared to do your research
During match:
- Record in short, sharp, small notes. You can elaborate and add further details later
- Crowd reaction can help in recognising key pieces of action to include in your report
- Other sources can help with further notes e.g. substitutions
- Quality of your work is very important. Work efficiently. Don't rush!
- Fact check your work
- Edit & review your work at least 3 or 4 times
