- 'I can share ideas with others to develop ways of estimating the answer to a calculation or problem, work out the actual answer, then check my solution by comparing it with the estimate.'
Suggested Learning Opportunities
- Learners estimate the number of goals scored in all matches from a particular round (e.g. how many goals scored in a round with 24 matches compared to a round with 16 matches?)
- Learners work out the total number of goals scored in a particular round of the Scottish Cup
- Learners could place the number of goals scored on a number line (this could be from one match or using a selection of teams/matches)
- Learners create a pictograph of the goals scored by a selection of teams/matches
- Learners could work out the difference in goals between particular matches (e.g. the highest scoring match and the lowest scoring match)
- Learners could work out the average number of goals per match from a particular round
- Learners could track the average number of goals scored across the rounds as the tournament progresses - this could then be displayed in a graph.
